BLEU LEMAN DESIGN
Upleveling an Oakland-based Interior Design Company's Brand Look and Feel.
Bleu Leman Design is a residential interior design firm based in the beautiful California East Bay. Lead by designer Diane Cherix, BLD creates a home sanctuary where their clients feel their very best. When we started working with Dee, she wanted to do a complete overhaul of her branding.
She’d been in business for several years, and it was time to refresh her branding, build her a new website, and strategize how best she could share her insight and expertise with her customer audience. Dee was interested in a new website that would help her clients to get a sense of her style and design approach, learn more about her and her inspiration and design skills, outline her process and client experience, and position herself as a resource and leader in the field. To showcase Dee’s design work, we created a click-through slideshow gallery to engage the site visitor, and we built an interactive Before/After portal to keep the user’s interest. Additionally, her website needed to be user-friendly, easy to navigate, and allow her prospective clients to easily contact her.
The Look (Visuals)
For Bleu Leman Design, we wanted to the look of the brand to come from the essence of Dee’s interior design portfolio. For this reason, we wanted to make sure we went with the less is more approach; we worked to ensure that nothing in the visual branding overtook or competed with her work. We used themes that are already evident in her work like clean, straight and geometric lines paired with organic, natural, and seemingly effortless strokes. For the color palette, we selected indigo, aqua blue, Santa Fe orange, soft pink, and taupe; these complement many of the colors that Dee often uses in her design. We looked to Dee’s Swiss roots, and her beloved childhood home of Lac Leman, for inspiration to elevate her look and feel with a fresh, calm, and casually refined sense.
The Feel (Voice)
For the feel of Bleu Leman Design, we wanted to evoke the same feeling and sensations that Dee’s clients experience when they walk into their newly designed living space. The voice and tone of the brand is welcoming, warm, and pleasant. Think: natural, joyful, comfortable, and simply beautiful.
Throughout our conversations with Dee, we noticed a common narrative about how Bleu Leman Design believes in helping people truly feel at home in their living spaces. From this intention, we crafted the branding tagline, Love Where You Live. This gentle phrase invites the reader to aspire to transform their living space into a loving place that they feel comfortable, confident, and at home. We followed this inspiration as we crafted the rest of the branding copy and content.
